We’re a small team of locals, travellers, and builders
who believe in a more authentic way to travel.

"A small team, building something local-first — designed to scale."
AskHimalaya began in the most Darjeeling way possible
— through conversations.
For the past few years, Tenzee Lhawang Bhutia has been running a backpackers’ hostel in the heart of town. Like every local who hosts travellers, he kept hearing the same questions every day:
After answering these questions hundreds of times, Tenzee had a thought: what if travellers could just send a message and get the same local advice instantly?
That idea became AskHimalaya.
To bring it to life, Saharsh Thapa joined to build the technology behind it, turning the idea into a WhatsApp-based AI travel companion that feels like
“a local in your pocket.”
Send a WhatsApp message → get a local answer.
Hyperlocal knowledge, lived experience — not generic travel lists.
As the project grew, Sudama Chettri and Satyanand Thapa joined the team to help expand the platform.
"Darjeeling is our testing ground. If it works here, it can work anywhere in the Himalayas."
The behind-the-scenes of building AskHimalaya
— right here in the heart of Darjeeling.
Locals share what’s real. Travellers share what worked.
The guide keeps evolving — together.
